Those freaking OHCs. *sigh* Well, that's what happened to this story.

I was once again lured in by a challenge, this time a Halloween one. Of course

Princess Destiny *was* asking nicely. :)

 

Anyway, so, I decided to do a scary Sailor Moon story, based on the

requirements of the challenge. As always, working on a timer, I threw in

rather blase setting and tossed in the characters to see what happened.

 

For those who don't know, Sailor Moon fics have two hurdles to overcome.

 

Well, those I write (pre-revelation) do at least.

 

First -- Usagi is fourteen years old at the time of the anime. She's fourteen

when she meets her romantic hero, Mamoru. Who is seventeen or eighteen.

Older.

 

Second -- Usagi (and Mamoru's) main enemy in pre-revelation fics is Beryl.

This means that they're fighting the generals and, mostly, youma. If you've

ever written a Sailor Moon fic involving a youman enemy, you know exactly

how difficult that can be.

 

You'd think otherwise (they're based on common things like hair dryers and

tires and so on, after all!) but that's absolutely not true! You need something

commonplace yet threathening. Then, you have to arm them, and then

describe them!

 

Is it any wonder why may authors skip the youma, the fighting, etc?

 

Anyway... I don't like the end-all and be-all of my stories to be the equivalent

of another episode. I want character depth, story exploration, etc.

 

I decided I wanted Usagi and Mamoru to get together. I want them to be stuck,

forced to find out more about each other and to confront their fears. Forced

to keep secrets, etc.

 

Then I got stuck. :)

 

I had them kiss.

 

Now, I think I've found a way out of my moral predicament (thanks, Alina!) but

I have to sit down and write it! Since I've started oh, way too many fics since

then, I've found myself a little busy.

 

Rest assured Lockdown is not abandoned!
